Eurostar horror as migrant electrocuted in ‘ball of flames’ on Paris train heading to UK

A migrant has been electrocuted in a “ball of flames” as they travelled to the UK on a Eurostar train.

The migrant was allegedly standing on top of the train when they were struck by an overhead cable. CCTV footage reportedly shows the migrant standing on top of the train before the incident occurred.

Following the incident, emergency services were called to the scene and the flames were extinguished by local firefighters at around 10pm. The migrant, who has yet to be identified, was seen running across the tracks at the Gare du Nord station in Paris on Thursday evening.

A police source told the Sun: “He got onto the roof of Eurostar wagon that was motionless. He had earlier been seen crossing nearby tracks, apparently not realising how dangerous the situation was. He stood up, and then there was a ball of flame.”

The migrant has been left “unrecognisable” following the incident and some police enquiries suggest he was sleeping rough in Paris before heading to the UK.

The incident comes days after a stabbing attack at the same station where several people were injured by a knifeman who was later detained by the police.

Speaking just after the incident, a police spokesperson said: “One person was seriously hurt, and two lightly wounded. Officers arrived on the scene within minutes and the man was arrested.

“He was found to have an Italian driving licence on him and did not offer any motive for his actions. There were no slogans shouted.” Shortly after, France’s Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin thanked those “who restrained the perpetrator of this unbearable act”.
