Erling Haaland tried to help Liverpool star with quirky gift that 'didn't work'

Liverpool star Dominik Szoboszlai has revealed Erling Haaland recommended some special glasses to improve his sleep quality during their time at Red Bull Salzburg, but they “didn’t work” for the Hungarian. Szoboszlai is the latest player to have come off the Salzburg conveyor belt to make it in the Premier League.

Sadio Mane, Takumi Minamino, Hee-Chan Hwang and Naby Keita are just a handful of players who have made the step from Salzburg to the Premier League. Haaland also started making a name for himself with the Austrian side before he started tearing it Borussia Dortmund and eventually Manchester City.

He spent just over one year at Salzburg, where he featured alongside Szoboszlai. The pair struck up a strong partnership with Salzburg in their short time together and the Liverpool star has now given an insight into how the City attacker ticks.

The Hungary international revealed that during his time playing with Haaland he tried some glasses the forward was using to help him sleep. But Szoboszlai admitted they didn’t have the desired effect with the midfielder hinting that Haaland tries other unique tricks to give him an edge.

“When we played in Salzburg I meditated with [Haaland] two or three times because we were in the same room and at first I looked stupid and then I got in,” he told Hungarian outlet Fodball. “He had a pair of glasses that he wore, and I used them for a while because he said they would make me sleep better and sleepy faster, but if I had, I would wear them now.

“It didn’t help me, but maybe it’s because I didn’t believe in him as much as he did, but that’s everyone’s own business. He does a lot of things that people probably don’t know, but I’ve been to his apartment. The guy is a bit sick.”
