Erik ten Hag speaks out after Man Utd booed off the pitch in Bournemouth humiliation

Erik ten Hag was quick to insist that he understood the frustration of supporters after Manchester United were put to the sword by Bournemouth at Old Trafford. The visitors scored three goals without reply in a barn-storming performance to claim a historic victory, while United were miles off the pace and faced the furious wrath of their home fans after the final whistle.

A loud chorus of boos rang out from the stands as United’s players trudged off the pitch, with their supporters not holding back in their assessment of the Red Devils’ lacklustre showing. A large number of empty seats were also visible during the closing stages of the match due to fans leaving the stadium early after deciding they had seen enough.

Ten Hag was later quizzed on the hostile reaction at full-time and insisted that supporters had every right to be angry with what they had witnessed from their team, who managed just three shots on target.

“I understand that they are disappointed and frustrated,” said the Dutchman. “We all are. We have to do better and we have to do it every game.”
