English people shocked at the time dinner is eaten in Spain: "No chance. I'll be asleep!"

A woman from Spain teaching Spanish in the UK has caused an online sensation back in her native country by revealing how shocked British people are at the time many Spaniards have dinner.

Glamorous educator and influencer Patry Ruiz, from Madrid, has more than half a million views on her TikTok account since sharing how English people find it hard to imagine eating later than 8pm.

Ms Ruiz shares tips for people wanting to learn English and Spanish on her social media accounts and has more than 12 million likes on her videos.

In a humorous skit Ms Ruiz can be seen applying mascara and appearing to casually discuss dining arrangements for later that evening.

Looking into the camera doing her makeup Ms Ruiz says: “Guys, I’ve booked dinner for tonight.”

Off camera an English voice replies, “what time?”, to which Ms Ruiz responds “half ten”. An incredulous English-accented man then replies, “Whaaaat?!”.

Keeping calm, Ms Ruiz shrugs and says “half ten, we’re in Spain, half ten, normal time”, to which her foil off screen replies, “dinner?”.

After replying it was for dinner, the now disgruntled English voice replies: “PM?, no chance! I’ll be asleep! I’ll be in bed with a cup of tea”.

Ms Ruiz laughs and scoffs to camera in the video which has set social media alight in Spain.

However, according to Spanish site ABC Playtime many social media users in the country agreed 10.30pm was a little late, and said they would usually book for 8.30pm or 9pm.

But taking the side of Ms Ruiz, one person joked: “Sleeping at 10:30pm in summer? Are they elderly?”,

Another added: “In bed with a cup of tea you can’t be more English”.
