End of 100ml liquids rule for plane passengers to be pushed

The end of the 100ml liquids rule for plane passengers will be delayed by months because airports have been allowed to miss the June deadline to install scanners, it is reported.

Airport bosses have until the end of January to apply for “alleviation”. Ministers are likely to grant extensions for Heathrow, Gatwick, Manchester and Stansted.

It is expected the airports will be given until next year.

Once the CT scanners are in place, passengers will be able to take up to two litres of liquids in hand luggage.
