Eco-mob protesters douse £228million mega yacht with blood red spray paint in Ibiza

Eco-protestors in Ibiza have used fire extinguishers to spray black and red paint on a $300million (£228million) mega yacht owned by Walmart heiress Nancy Walton.

The incident occurred on Sunday, and the activists from the group “Futuro Vegetal” (Vegetable Future) uploaded a video of their action on social media.

They can be seen in the video standing in front of the yacht dubbed “Kaos”, holding a banner that reads, “You consume, others suffer.”

The group said in the video: “The richest one percent of the world’s population pollutes more than the poorest 50 percent.

“They are condemning us to a future of pain, misery and desolation.”

‘Futuro Vegetal’ continued: “They are destroying our planet, compromising the habitability of the earth and everything, to lead a standard of living that goes beyond the limits of reason.

“The climate crisis means endless suffering and horror for everyone on the planet.”

The group added: “Neither all the repression, nor the outcome of any election process is going to stop” their efforts to “mitigate the impact of the climate crisis”.

Several media outlets and campaigners confirmed that the huge boat belonged to Nancy Walton Laurie, the millionaire Walmart heiress.

The previous Friday, the same gang of demonstrators targeted a private jet at the airport of the Balearic island, forcing the runway to close for several hours.

According to Futuro Vegetal and Extinction Rebellion Ibiza, this recent action marked the end of their campaign titled “Jets and Yachts, the Party is Over,” which demands for a ban on private aircraft and an end to luxury emissions.

Their goal was to target the wealthiest one percent and emphasise that extravagant leisure activities that waste necessary resources are a luxury society cannot afford.

As part of their protest actions, they painted sports cars and even infiltrated a luxury club, in addition to the yacht and private plane.

Posting on Twitter, the group said: “The only reason we continue to maintain an economic system that leads to eco-social collapse is to sustain the privileges of this small privileged class.

“The mega-rich live off the suffering of others.

“It is the people at the top of the social pyramid who put all life on the planet at their service, forcing us to work to sustain their system, exploiting animals and destroying the land no matter how much suffering and death is involved.”
