Duchess Sophie sparks frenzy as fans convinced she 'looks like a Barbie doll' at event

Duchess Sophie proved she was the wearer of the best smart-casual attire, sending royal fans wild, as she stepped out for a rare joint event with her husband Prince Edward to attend the British Cycling National Track Championships.

Arriving in Manchester, the Duchess, 59, wore a pair of navy blue fitted trousers that were ankle length, teamed with a matching navy blazer and stripy jumper.

The blazer was by Alexander McQueen – also a designer favoured by Princess Kate, and it featured boxy shoulder pads, and looked structured and well-fitted. Sophie also wore a Ruched-Sleeve Striped Cashmere Sweater in Camel Multi’ by Frame, with warm brown stripes.

The Duchess decided to tie her blonde locks up in a neat bun, as she would be taking part in cycling activities with her husband.

Royal fans loved the look, x user, @IpsiRoyals wrote “This barbie is a super royal” alongside a crown emoji.

To pick up the warm brown stripes in her top, the mother-of-two opted for a brown leather saddle bag with gold studs – the ‘Oskan Moon’ Stud-Embellished’ style in the shade Cognac by Isabel Marant.

As reported in Hello! Magazine, Sophie completed her look with the ‘Madras Leather Ankle Boots’ by Prada with a rounded toe and a block heel.

Another fan praised the “well put-together” outfit and compared the Duchess to the famous doll-like image stating “Sophie is very pretty like a Barbie girl!”

Social media user @grlnxtdr54 wrote “She looks fantastic!”, whereas @JoyceMaalem exclaimed: “Sophie looks like what she is — a sophisticated beautiful woman.”

The Duchess also kept her makeup soft and light but decided to go with a pink-hued smokey eye – she also wore a salmon pink lip shade to complete her feminine look.

Sophie and Edward tried their hand at adaptive cycling as they met participants of the Limitless accessible cycling programme.

The centre is run by British Cycling and provides cycling opportunities for disabled people, irrespective of age, impairment, or ability.

As the patron of the British Cycling Federation, Sophie watched some of the day one events in the Velodrome, including Women’s Scratch Qualification, Final Para-Cycling C1-5 Time Trial and Men’s Sprint Quarter-Finals.

Sophie and Edward have stepped up to their duties in the past couple of months by attending various public engagements during the King’s illness as he recovers from his recent cancer diagnosis.

The couple showcased friendly rivalry at the engagement while news of their daughter Lady Louise’s future in the Royal Family seems to suggest she may never be a working member of the Firm.
