Driver left furious as car damaged by local prankster's 'rude' parking stickers

Ryan Martin’s Volkswagen was hit with two stickers – one bearing crudely drawn genitals and derogatory language while the other simply read: “Stop parking like an idiot.”

The prank unfolded when the 18-year-old from Ramsgate, Kent left his Lupo parked overnight on Monday.

Initially, Ryan saw the funny side to the stickers, but when he peeled them away, he noticed scratches on his car.

As Ryan presents his car at shows, he will need to have repairs done – which could cost a lot of money.

“It’s not acceptable to damage someone else’s car just because you’re unhappy with their parking,” he said.

“The stickers were right in the middle of my windscreen so someone leant over and touched the car to put them there.

“The scratches are rather deep so might not polish out.

“It could be a zip, or a belt buckle, or maybe something more sinister.

“It’s a show car, so deep scratches don’t look good. It’ll cost a fortune.”

Ryan, who works at a car hire company in Canterbury, estimates he has spent thousands on his Lupo over the past year.

He added: “If they have to respray the panel, then I’m probably looking at over £100.

“I’ve put a lot of time and money into that car. It’s frustrating. People just need to learn respect.”

Ryan is now on the hunt for CCTV in a bid to try and locate the perpetrators – and hopefully prevent anyone else from suffering the same fate.

“I’m new to the area but as far as I can tell not too many people have had this happen to them,” he said.

Parking in the Thanet area has long been subject to ridicule and anger from residents, with a Facebook group dedicated to sharing pictures of poorly parked cars in the district.

Kent Police said it advises drivers to take precautions wherever possible to warn off possible vandals.

Tips include keeping the vehicle visible in well-lit areas and ensuring it is tidy.
