Drive-thru worker shoots at customer who complained key item was missing from order

A shocking video shows the moment a fast food worker pulled a gun on a customer in the drive-thru line.

The customer, Anthony Ramos, pulled up to a Jack-in-the-Box restaurant near Houston’s Bush Intercontinental Airport in March 2021.

Ramos had his then 6-year-old daughter and pregnant wife with him in the car at the time.

Ramos reportedly ordered a Classic Buttery Jack combo meal, but he complained that when the food arrived, it was missing curly fries.

An argument then erupted between Ramos and employee Alonniea Fantasia Ford.

CCTV footage shows Ford and another fast food staffer throw ice and condiments at Ramos’ car.

Things quickly escalated when Ford left the drive-thru window and returned with a gun. The video shows her putting the gun outside the window and firing at least two rounds at Ramos’ car.

Ramos quickly sped off to avoid the gunfire, and no one was injured.

Ford pled guilty to one count of deadly conduct and was sentenced to one year of deferred adjudication, according to the Houston Chronicle. She completed her sentence in June of this year.

Another person was reportedly arrested on ‘suspicion of taking Ford’s weapon and attempting to hide it from officers,’ according to the Houston Chronicle.

Ramos’ family filed a lawsuit last year against Jack-in-the-Box, accusing them of neglecting to keep customers safe from dangerous employees.

The restaurant chain has denied it is responsible for Ford’s behavior, saying they had ‘no control’ over its staff and are ‘not legally responsible.’

However, Ramos’ lawyer, Randall Kallinen, has now revealed the damning video footage from the day of the shooting.

Kallinen said in a press release: “Jack-in-the-Box needs to do a background check on employees so as not to expose their customers to someone who would attempt to kill them. These rage cases are getting out of hand in Houston.”

The family is seeking $250,000 in damages as a result of the incident and is requesting compensation for their ‘therapy and mental anguish.’

Ford was also specifically named in the lawsuit.

Jack-in-the-Box said in a statement to news site UNILAD: “While we cannot comment on ongoing litigation, we are aware of the situation involving an employee of one of our independent franchises and remain focused on providing a safe environment for customers and restaurant workers.”
