Dramatic broad daylight shooting in upmarket Marbella resort with masked gunmen

A dramatic shooting in broad daylight at an upmarket resort in sunny Marbella in Spain had residents and tourists running for cover in fear of their lives on Saturday, October 28.

Two people have been left injured after multiple shots were fired by three masked gunmen in Guadalmina Alta, which took place as people were sitting down for lunch.

One man was shot in the leg but managed to hop in a Land Rover and flee the scene, whereas another was shot in the hand and taken to hospital for treatment.

At the scene, pictures show smeared blood on a vehicle and on the ground, after it was caught in the crossfire.

The MailOnline reported a waitress had witnessed the incident: “It was absolutely crazy, there was absolute panic, it was like something from a movie. I saw one guy earlier in the morning walking around the shops looking very nervous and chain-smoking, it looked like he was searching for someone.”

She added: “The three guys were wearing masks and they shot the man in the leg, he was limping but managed to get into a Land Rover and drive away.”

The media outlet reported the gang members were arrested by Policia Nacional about half an hour after the shooting. The nationalities of the shooters and victims are not yet known.

Speaking to The Sun, a Spanish Police officer said: “We cannot confirm anything as the investigation is ongoing.”

The surroundings of Guadalmina include golf courses, sports clubs, schools, restaurants, shops, beach clubs and resort hotels.

It is home to just over 3,500 people who live in this part of Marbella, although the population grows considerably in the summer months, during the busy tourist season.

According to property experts, Knight Frank, a large part of Guadalmina Alta, particularly its inland extension, is made up of quiet residential streets, lined with villas.
