Donald Trump's 'alpha strutting is gone': 'Hunched' ex-president faces court

Former president Donald Trump looked “vulnerable” heading into Trump Tower in New York City this afternoon, in front of awaiting supporters, protestors, and cameras.

Trump, who has dubbed the charges brought against him after an investigation over hush money paid to a porn star just before the 2016 election who claims they had sex a “witch hunt”, looked “hunched” heading into the tower a body language expert told Express exclusively.

The former president headed out of his car into the building, surrounded by security detail. He turned and gave a final wave to the crowds before disappearing inside.

The 76-year-old’s body language was analysed by expert Judi James. She claimed his “alpha strutting is gone”.

Judi said: “In terms of his signature love of showboating, peacocking, and status-splaying body language behaviours to puff up his power and his authority, this is a rather notched-back display from Trump, who looks wary and very slightly vulnerable during his last wave to the crowd.

“His jacket is open as he walks and he seems to try to put one hand in a pocket in a truncated gesture, which is usually connected to a subliminal desire to hide.

“His alpha strutting is gone and instead he is slightly hunched forward.

“We can see his eye expression suggesting wariness rather than this usual arrogance, although there is a sense of trying to appeal to the public as though he might feel he needs his fans right now.”

In fact, the way Trump gestured to crowds and supported suggested he sees them as “friends” at this moment, the expert claimed.

She went on: “The wave suggests similar. It’s a friendly-looking ‘washing’ gesture rather than a presidential-style ‘hail’.”

The former president is expected to surrender at the office of Manhattan district attorney Alvin Bragg, after being escorted through the street by police, court officers, and Secret Service agents.

He will then have his fingerprints processed, after which he’ll be in custody and officially under arrest.

Then, the president will plead. It seems likely he will plead “innocent” to the charges, given he posted the words “WITCH HUNT” on his Truth Social platform shortly before travelling from Florida to New York.
