Donald Trump spared arrest as controversial Grand Jury breaks up for a month

Donald Trump will reportedly be spared arrest for at least another month as he’s being investigated for an alleged “hush money” payment to porn star Stormy Daniels. The former US President is expected to swerve a looming indictment for at least another month due to a break in court hearings, according to a person familiar with the proceedings.

The 76-year-old has been under examination by the Manhattan grand jury for his alleged role in a $130,000 (£105,000) “hush money” payment made to porn star Stormy Daniels ahead of the 2016 presidential elections.

The grand jury, which heard testimony in the Trump case on Monday, did not meet on Wednesday. It is expected to examine evidence in a separate matter on Thursday, the person familiar with the case told Politico.

While the jury is scheduled to consider another case next week on Monday and Wednesday, it isn’t expected to meet next Thursday due to Passover, a Jewish holiday.

There will then be a two-week break following this, a hiatus originally scheduled when the grand jury first grouped in January, the source said.

But the ex-president may not be out of the woods just yet as District Attorney Alvin Bragg could ask the grand jury to reconvene if prosecutors want the panel to meet during the planned breaks.

There is no official deadline for bringing an indictment against Trump, in recent weeks, there has been some indication that the grand jury is nearing a vote.

The former president previously took to his platform Truth Social to claim that the move was going to come last Tuesday.

Trump denies the allegations made against him and has called on his supporters to rally if he is charged.
