Tennis fans will be in for a treat today when Novak Djokovic takes on Carlos Alcaraz in their highly-anticipated exhibition match in Saudi Arabia. The showdown is part of the Riyadh Season Tennis Cup, a festival organised by the country’s General Entertainment Authority.
The match, which is scheduled to begin at 3.45pm, will see Djokovic go up against Alcaraz in what should be a thrilling clash between two of the world’s leading players. It will also serve as a preview of what to expect from them next year, with less than a month remaining until they do battle at the Australian Open.
Djokovic has already tipped Alcaraz to emerge as the next dominant force in tennis while speaking about the Spaniard ahead of today’s match. He told Eurosport: “He will be one of the great leaders of this sport for the next 15 years and, definitely, we will continue to see many things from him in the biggest tournaments.
“[Rafael] Nadal didn’t play in 2023, [Roger] Federer retired. Our generation is running out but what emerges in Alcaraz is great.”
