Disturbing video shows Israeli embassy employee in China being stabbed on 'day of jihad'

Disturbing video has emerged of an Israeli man being stabbed in Beijing today – the ‘global day of jihad’.

Beijing authorities have apprehended a 53-year-old foreign suspect and no immediate motive has been disclosed for the assault.

The victim, employed at the Israeli Embassy, was transferred to the hospital and is reported to be in stable condition, as conveyed by an Israeli government statement.

The statement did not provide further details about the incident.

The shocking stabbing incident occurred amid worldwide protests in support of Palestine, which have been triggered by Israel’s intensive bombing campaign in Gaza. The offensive followed a deadly incursion into southern Israel by militant group Hamas last Saturday.

A video shared on social media captured the dramatic moment when a man wielding a knife engaged in a confrontation with another individual on the ground, repeatedly stabbing him and leaving a trail of blood on the sidewalk.

Eyewitnesses in the vicinity reported hearing the victim’s cries for help as police cars and an ambulance rushed to the scene. A police cordon was established, and the bloodstains were subsequently cleaned from the pavement.

In light of the rising tensions, heightened security measures have been observed around the Israeli Embassy in Beijing, including plainclothes police officers stationed outside the premises.

The Palestinian Embassy in Beijing has similarly seen an increase in security personnel.

As the conflict intensifies, anti-Semitic comments have surged on Chinese social media platforms. In response, the Israeli Embassy in Beijing has started filtering comments on its Chinese social media accounts, sharing supportive messages like “Support Israel! Destroy the terrorist organization!” which garnered thousands of likes.

Chinese state media have also blamed the United States for exacerbating the situation. This narrative aligns with the Chinese government’s efforts to undermine the influence of the United States on the global stage.

While the United States remains a steadfast ally of Israel, recent tensions with Israel over domestic matters had prompted China to engage with the Israeli government. The U.S. has continued to offer support to Israel through military aid and diplomatic channels.

U.S. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, during his meetings with Chinese leaders in Beijing earlier this week, expressed dissatisfaction with China’s initial response to the Hamas incursion.

China later issued a statement expressing deep sorrow over civilian casualties and condemning actions that harm civilians.
