Depraved pensioner committed vile sex attack on boy, 12, after abduction from market

A “devious” pensioner lured a young boy from a Nottingham marketplace before driving the 12-year-old to a secluded carpark to sexually assault him.

Tony Spilsbury, aged 76, had told police it was a “misunderstanding” after he was arrested for sexually assaulting the young boy. However, the police said the vile attack showed a “cunning and high level of premeditation” as the man now faces a lifetime on the Sex Offenders’ Register.

Spilsbury approached the 12-year-old in Bulwell marketplace on July 11, Nottinghamshire police said. After striking up a conversation with the lad, the retired builder asked the child for help with his van.

Spilsbury then drove the youngster to a secluded area of a nearby car park and began his assault, with the 12-year-old resisting the pensioner’s advances, the police said.

The child was then driven a short distance before being pushed out of the van.
