Deliveroo driver's horrific sex attack on sleeping customer after sneaking into her house

A Deliveroo driver has been jailed after sneaking into a sleeping customer’s house to launch a brutal sexual assault.

Fuad Haddad, 31, arrived at the woman’s house after she ordered food on the delivery app following a night out.

Despite cancelling the order, Haddad decided to go to the woman’s house to collect payment.

After finding her front door open, he snuck past her boyfriend, who was sleeping downstairs, and made his way into the woman’s bedroom.

He then carried out his sexual assault and tried to kiss the woman as she pushed him away.

Prosecutors said he apologised but refused to leave and was forcibly removed from the property at around 5am.

Haddad, of Adamsdown, Cardiff, initially denied wrongdoing but later admitted sexual assault and trespass. He appeared at Cardiff Crown Court and was jailed for two years and eight months.

On the night, the victim was asleep in bed but was woken by the door opening. She was disorientated and emerging from sleep when she asked Haddad who he was. He lied and said he had been with her boyfriend, who he claimed was “coming up in a minute”.

He asked if he could sit down, to which the victim agreed, but Haddad climbed into bed with her and touched her with his hand on her hip. He pressed his body against hers. He attempted to kiss her twice but was pushed away.

The woman asked Haddad to leave, and he apologised repeatedly but wouldn’t leave until he was forcibly walked out of the house and pushed out the door.

The police were called and prosecutor Byron Broadstock said the defendant was later seen on CCTV footage approaching the address numerous times before leaving at 5.12am.

Haddad was arrested on April 13 and admitted attending the address but he denied any sexual offence.

He later pleaded guilty to sexual assault and trespassing on premises with intention of causing sexual offence. The court heard he had previous convictions for drug offences and an offence of battery.

In a statement, the victim said: “I was sexually assaulted in a place I thought I was safe. I have changed my habits, demeanour and appearance to try and process and cope with what happened.

“I live in shared accommodation and should be able to feel safe in my house. I hope to go back to the woman I was before this day. I am so anxious when I am alone or in my room.”

She added: “Now I check the door is locked and I also do this if I stay over someone else’s house or when going on trips. I used to order food regularly but that’s stopped now if I am the only person. I usually only order take out if someone is having one with me.

“I found myself drinking alcohol more consistently or having a bad day with anxiety. This has had a detrimental effect on my wellbeing and health.

“I kept thinking ‘why does a delivery driver think he could walk in, see my partner passed out in the kitchen, walk upstairs, get into bed with me and sexually assault me’.”
