Daughter rages as mum refuses to stick up with her and sides with school teachers

A mother has taken to social media to vent after siding with her daughter’s school when she was given a warning because of her dress code.

Posting on the popular Reddit forum /AITA, she said that her daughter came home wearing her gym clothes after being flagged at school for wearing clothes that were too revealing during school hours.

The mum goes on to say that the school’s rules are fair and essentially just want to make sure that no undergarments can be seen, but her daughter was wearing a sheer swim top coverup, which her school took a picture of as evidence.

She told her daughter that the warning she received was fair and that it was right as she went against the rules, espeically after seeing the evidence sent to her.

But since siding with the school the mother has come under fire from her youngest and eldest daughter for not standing up for them, even though she believes that it was right that she received a warning.

She said: “I would like to start off by saying the dress code is very reasonable, the rule is don’t see undergarments and this affects the guys more than the girls (the pants not being held up boxers are seen thing). I have three kids and the older two have never been dress coded.

“My daughter came home and she was in her gym clothes since she got dress-coded. It came with a school email and a picture of the shirt. They took the picture after my daughter changed and it was a swimtop coverup.”

The mother said that after seeing the image the school sent and reading the warning she got, she felt that the consequence was fair.

She said: “This makes complete sense to me why she was dress-coded, she got a warning and that was that.”

But now, her daughters are angry with her for not sticking up for her youngest and have made her feel that she’s wrong to agree with their school, and even her sister has taken issue with her decision.

She said: “Now my daughter and oldest daughter are pi**** that I didn’t stick up for her. My sister is now on my a** since the kids told her and they all think I am a jerk.”

Her post proved popular on the site, gaining nearly 2,000 comments, all offering their opinions on the matter.

One comment said: “I don’t see anything to fight here. The rules aren’t unreasonable, your daughter wasn’t wrongly accused of breaking them, and the punishment isn’t going have any long-term consequences on her education or wellbeing

And a second said: “These are also the fun little lessons in life that teach kids rules have consequences. She knew where the line was, stuck a toe over it and got slapped for it.

While a third said: “in this specific case I agree with you but 9/10 school dress codes are strict and unreasonable for girls and also not equally enforced (thicker girls will be dress coded for things skinnier girls will not be).

“I’m all for breaking dress code if it’s sexist (like shoulders..nobody cares about a shoulder)
