Boris Johnson’s fate will be officially decided by MPs on Monday, who will be given a free vote on whether or not to implement the recommendations of the Privileges Committee’s report into Partygate.
The committee published their 30,000-word report earlier today, in which they found that Mr Johnson had deliberately misled the House of Commons.
It recommended the former Prime Minister be handed a 90-day suspension from Parliament.
The report also recommends he be denied a parliamentary pass, that all former MPs are entitled to after leaving office.
It says: “If Mr Johnson were still a Member he should be suspended from the service of the House for 90 days for repeated contempts and for seeking to undermine the parliamentary process”
The report adds: “We recommend that he should not be entitled to a former Member’s pass.”
Mr Johnson published a furious 1,704-word rebuttal to the Privileges Committee report into parties during Lockdown.
The former Prime Minister slammed the report as a “charade”, saying today is a “dreadful day for MPs and democracy”.
