Joachim told the outlet: “We’ve moved on.”

His wife added: “We weren’t happy about the way it happened. But it’s a family thing. It’s complicated.

The Danish royals relocated from their home in France to Washington in the summer of 2023 due to Prince Joachim’s new job at the Danish Embassy under the Ministry of Defense.

The prince said: “We’ve lived here for seven months now, and very few people know who we are, Danes apart.”

Queen Margrethe’s son attended the accession festivities of his brother, now King Frederik X, on January 14 after their mother’s shock abdication announcement last year.

He was pictured hugging Frederik as they made their way into Parliament the following day.
