Daniel Khalife: Exactly what fugitive had on him when he was snared by police

Daniel Khalife was reportedly found with a sleeping bag, bicycle, Waitrose cool bag and wearing a change of clothes when police swooped on him.

Terror suspect Khalife, 21, was caught when he was pulled off a bike by a plain-clothed counter terrorism officer on a towpath near Rowdell Road, Northolt, shortly before 11am on Saturday.

Footage obtained by The Sun newspaper shows Khalife sat on the canal towpath after his arrest with the bike, Waitrose cool bag and sleeping bag nearby.

Metropolitan Police counter-terrorism boss Commander Dominic Murphy said Khalife had been “fully cooperative and handcuffed and arrested”.

He said: “[Khalife] was actually arrested by a plain clothes officer… and he was riding a pedal cycle, so a pushbike, at the time, was pulled off that pushbike by that officer and arrested at that location. Upon being detained by the officer he was fully co-operative and handcuffed and arrested.”

Peter Bleksley, who is known as The Chief on Channel 4’s Hunted and is a founding member of Scotland Yard’s secretive undercover squad SO10, told Express.co.uk Khalife’s change of clothes will be one focus for detectives now.

He said: “It will be very interesting to see where he got his change of clothes from. Did he scavenage them? Did he steal them? Or did someone give them to him?”

Mr Bleksley warned: “If anyone tried to help him, don’t sleep too soundly in your bed tonight because you’re probably going to get a knock on the door.”

Khalife escaped from HMP Wandsworth in south west London at 7.32am on Wednesday (September 6) while clinging to the bottom of a BidFood delivery van.

The ex-soldier had been awaiting trial for allegedly planting a fake bomb at an RAF base and gathering information which might be useful to terrorists or enemies of the UK.

He strapped himself to the underside of the vehicle after leaving the prison kitchen dressed in a prison chef’s uniform of red and white gingham trousers, a short-sleeved white T-shirt and sturdy brown shoes.

Police had suggested Khalife was likely to have discarded the chef’s garb and could have been wearing different clothes, including other prison-issued garments.

After about 75 hours on the run, Khalife was apprehended and arrested on suspicion of being unlawfully at large and being an escaped prisoner.
