Dad strips down to crop top and Daisy Dukes in protest at school's dress code meeting

A frustrated father stripped down to just a crop top and tight jean shorts in protest at a school’s dress code.

Ira Latham, from Arizona, was incensed at his children’s school loosening dress code standards that had not been updated since 2001.

The panel’s progressive wing argued existing restrictions disproportionately targeted females, and proposed allowing exposed midriffs, spaghetti straps, and halter tops.

But taking issue with the proposal, Latham decided to go the extra mile at the school board meeting.

Video shows Latham, who’s daughter goes to Higley High School in Arizona, remove his shirt at a podium, revealing a stretched black garment over his chest.

NBC 12’s footage showed him in a pair of too-tight jean shorts, which he said to the Higley Unified School District meeting was the point.

“Under the proposed policy, this would be appropriate in a classroom,” he said.

Speaking to NBC later, he said: “The dress code that they wanted to get to is just basically a dress code for a public pool.

“Make sure that kids cover their underwear and that’s about it.”

Tiffany Shultz, the governing board president, has dismissed concerns about the new dress standards.

“We’re saying that they need to cover up because of the way it might make someone else feel and that is wrong,” she said.

Amanda Wade, one of the governing board members, also said: “These are kids.

“They’re not at a job and I recognize at the end of the day this is the most job that they have but we need to allow freedom.”
