A dad has been left in a state of shock after realizing he once slept with his daughter’s new boyfriend.
In a post on social media, the 42-year-old dad explained that he had been married to his wife, the mother of their 24-year-old daughter, for many years.
Once the marriage was over, he began exploring his sexuality and joined gay dating app Grindr, after realizing he was bisexual.
He met up with a 24-year-old from the app.
The pair met at a bar and enjoyed an evening out together before going back to his empty home. They didn’t speak again after the young man left the next morning.
But just one year later, he met the former hookup under more than uncomfortable circumstances – at a dinner with his daughter and her ‘new boyfriend’.
In his post, the man wrote: “At the time I’m not thinking much of anything and just casually said I’ll look forward to meeting him one day, etc.
“Even more months passed and I found out my ex-wife, her mom, already got to meet him. So I started pressing the issue more as I wanted to be as up-to-date on my kid’s life.
“We scheduled to meet and have lunch. I prepared a whole joke routine of pretending like I’m some strict dad. Come to find out the situation is more funny than any joke I could have made.
“They both come in and I immediately notice it’s the guy I hooked up with before. She introduced him via a different name.
“I don’t think he’s hiding his identity or something to her it’s pretty common to use a fake name on Grindr especially if you’re keeping it on the down low. I don’t know if he recognized me for certain, but I got the vibe he did.
“I couldn’t tell if it was nerves as he was meeting his girl’s father or if it was nerves over the Grindr thing. I don’t meet a lot of people on the app so I remember hookups well.
“The lunch continued as normal we talked about a lot of different topics. Not the Grindr hookup!”
The dad ended the post by saying that he doesn’t know what to do for the best, whether to tell his daughter and admit his own bisexuality to her or just leave it alone.
The post gained a great deal of comments, with one person writing: “I can just imagine that conversation. So, fruit of my loins. I’m bisexual and I f***** your boyfriend a while back. Pass the potatoes please.”
Another said: “If I were your daughter I’d want to know… You haven’t done anything wrong, yet, but if you continue to keep it a secret then you know that’s not fair. She’s your daughter. I know it must be terrifying to come out, especially if you aren’t 100 percent ready but this is important.”
