Dad charged with murder after wife found dead at family home

A dad-of-two has been charged with killing the wife of his children after she was discovered dead at her family home in Cambridgeshire.

Sian Hammond, 46, was found dead at the house she shared with Robert Hammond, 47, and their two teenage daughters.

The financial expert appeared at Peterborough Magistrates’ Court yesterday charged with her murder.

Hammond spoke only to confirm his name, address and age during the short hearing.

He was remanded in custody and is due to next appear at Cambridge Crown Court on December 11.

Officers rushed to the scene of the large detached property on October 30 following the grim incident.

Sian, a mortgage broker, was “beloved” according to tributes. She was a biochemistry graduate and a “friend to many”, according to Lime Tree Financial Services, where was Principal and Director.

The company also said: “Everyone that knew her would agree Sian was one of the friendliest people you could have the pleasure of meeting, and she will be sorely missed by many.

“Please bear with us whilst our team comes to terms with this terrible loss, we will keep everyone updated with the funeral arrangements.”
