Critical incident declared by North East Ambulance Service after 'unprecedented' pressure

North East Ambulance Service has declared a critical incident.

Officials, citing “unprecedented pressure” have called for emergency assistance as people face significant healthcare delays.

The service said that up to 100 people faced delays over the Christmas period, with ambulance crews less available.

Until now, NEAS had operated on its highest alert level, allowing it to receive additional support.
