Creme egg thief who stole £60 worth of the Cadbury chocolate jailed

A prolific shoplifter who stole almost £60 worth of Cadbury’s Creme Eggs has been jailed for nine weeks.

Scott McSpadden, 40, entered a Tesco in Wisbech, Cambs where he picked up £59.40 worth of the chocolate eggs and left without making any attempt to pay.

McSpadden, who was with Tanya Momot, 31, breached a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) by entering the store in Kirkgate Street with Momot.

The CBO stated that McSpadden must not enter any shopping store at the same time as Momot.

Officers arrested McSpadden on April 4 and he was later charged with theft from shop and breach of a CBO.

Momot was also arrested in connection with a separate shoplifting incident.

She was charged with theft of £95.98 worth of sandwiches and confectionary items from BP garage in Wisbech.

They both appeared at Cambridge Magistrates’ Court on April 5 where they admitted all offences.

McSpadden, from Wisbech, was sentenced to nine weeks in prison and has been ordered to pay £30 in compensation to Tesco.

Momot, also of Wisbech, was ordered to pay £32 in compensation to BP.

PC James Game said: “McSpadden and Momot are prolific shoplifters in Wisbech who blatantly disregard the orders of the court by continuing to breach their CBOs and commit shoplifting offences.”
