Coventry University’s Institute for Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering has already helped generate more than £500million of economic benefits with more than £110million in projects completed for giants like Aston Martin, Ford and Lotus.
Now AME is ramping up with a £6million investment to offer 2,400 extra square yards of space for laser welders, robots, testing and laboratories.
AME director Marcos Kauffman called the expansion a “testament to our unwavering commitment to bridging the skills and research and development gap between academia and industry.
“It is a beacon of our dedication to nurturing industry-ready talent while also fostering pioneering research that helps solve everyday issues.
“Together, we will support the collective journey into a clean, sustainable and digital world.”
AME has helped craft lightweight, eco-friendly products including high-volume fuel rails exported to China.
Professor John Latham, Coventry University vice-chancellor, added: “We’re setting the stage for the next generation of engineers, innovators, and clean technologies.”
