Couple behind '£1000k dine and dash spree' hide their faces as they arrive in court


A married couple have arrived in court after they were charged with pulling off a series of “dine and dash” escapades, leaving a trail of unpaid hefty bills at various restaurants.

Bernard McDonagh, 41, and Ann McDonagh, 39, from Sandfields in Port Talbot, appeared in Swansea Magistrates Courtthis morning where they faced charges linked to dining without paying across South Wales.

Mrs McDonagh faces five counts of fraud and an additional four counts of theft related to shoplifting incidents, while Mr McDonagh is up against five counts of fraud.

In a bid to catch the culprits, restaurants took to social media, to to identify a mysterious family of eight who indulged in hefty meals and then left without settling the bill.

Over a period of nine months, several eateries experienced the sting of this group, which could number up to eight individuals, as they enjoyed substantial feasts, often doubling up on drinks or desserts, only to leave without paying for their lavish orders
