‘Compassionate, loving, and funny’ teen stabbed to death in horror attack on night out

A “compassionate, loving, and funny” teenager has died after being stabbed on a night out with friends.

Matthew Daulby, 19, was killed on a night out with friends in the early hours of July 29.

Lancashire Police were reportedly called to Ormskirk town centre shortly after midnight after receiving reports of a disturbance.

Police found Matthew with stab wounds. Despite the best efforts of paramedics, he died later in hospital.

Following his death, the police released a tribute issued by his family.

Matthew’s family described him as the “most compassionate, loving, and funny young man with a bright future ahead of him”.

They said: “He adored his family, and cared for them with utmost loyalty.

“He loved spending time with them and gave his love so generously, making sure everyone knew how much he loved them.

“He had a zest for life and was always looking forward to holidays with his family and friends.”

Matthew’s family added: “He was surrounded by love from his family and we will miss him every day, for the rest of our lives.”

As questions begin to be asked about what led to Matthew’s death, his family are being supported by specially trained officers.

A post-mortem to establish the cause of Matthew’s death is due to take place.

Alongside Matthew, another teenager was also stabbed.

The second teenager remains in hospital, but their injuries are allegedly not thought to be life threatening.

Following the attack, two men were arrested on suspicion of affray and remained in custody on July 29.

The incident reportedly took place on Railway Road and involved several men.

Speaking to LancashireLive, operations manager for CSS Security Anthony White said his staff did everything they could to try and help.

Mr White said: “Our guys were first on the scene and tried to help the victim. They gave him first aid, put pressure on the wound and gave him CPR.

“They did everything they could. One of our doormen is traumatised. He doesn’t feel able to work after what happened last night.

“We don’t often have to deal with knives. We describe it as a retirement job for our doormen because it’s quiet and safe.

“Everyone’s in shock. The family of the victim came to visit the crime scene earlier and they just broke down in tears.”
