It’s definitely time to grab your big coat – with sub-zero temperatures set to grip parts of the UK in just hours.
The freezing conditions are predicted for parts of Scotland and temperatures are also set to plummet in southern parts of the country too – with London predicted to fall to 3C.
BBC Weather predicts that temperatures will drop to a low of -1C in Glasgow, Scotland, this evening – and this low will continue into Saturday.
In London tonight will see a low of 2C and 3C during daytime tomorrow just as thousands prepare to protest on the streets of the capital.
As well as temperatures forecast to drop below zero hail, rain and high winds are expected to lash down on the country.
Senior meteorologist for British Weather Services, Jim Dale, told Express.co.uk: “It’s a long time coming – mainly but not exclusively for inland areas of northern UK but not really penetrating.”
He added: “Fog will temper the freeze in many areas.”
Met Office Meteorologist Ellie Glaisyer said cold and wet conditions seen over recent days will continue into the weekend with stormy conditions expected to hit Britain on Monday.
She said: “Those shower conditions that we’ve seen overnight will continue through much of today, pushing in from the west so those heavier showers always confined to the western coast and southern coasts as well.
“In the south people could see some heavy downpours “and perhaps hear the odd rumble of thunder through this afternoon”.
She added: “Parts of Scotland, northern England and southeast England always staying the driest with plenty of sunny spells here through this afternoon, but perhaps not feeling too warm in that sunshine with blustery winds.”
As we go into next week the temperatures look set to rise again – on Monday in London there is a predicted low of 9C and high of 15C.
In Scotland it’s a similar outlook – on Monday there’s predicted to be to a high of 9C and low of 6C in Edinburgh.
The Met Office’s three to five day forecast – covering Sunday, November 12 until Tuesday, November 14 – says: “A chilly start to Sunday with fog for some. This clearing with outbreaks of rain pushing eastwards later.
“Remaining unsettled on Monday and Tuesday with rain followed by blustery showers.”
Early December could be marked with a widespread frost as winter sets in for the UK, warns the Met Office – but rain is likely to be the prevailing weather.
Grahame Madge is a Met Office spokesman, told Express.co.uk: “There is no strong signal for snow within the forecast for the rest of autumn or into early December.
“There is always a chance of wintry conditions on the tops of the Scottish mountains but away from these more extreme conditions there is little prospect of snow at lower elevations.”
