Christian Horner 'meets with FIA president' as Red Bull boss back under the microscope

Christian Horner met with FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem during FP3 on Friday ahead of the Bahrain Grand Prix.

The Red Bull team principal has been placed back under the microscope after screenshots of messages allegedly sent by the 50-year-old were ‘leaked’ to journalists and key members of the paddock on Thursday.

Horner had previously been under investigation throughout the month of February after an unnamed Red Bull employee made allegations of ‘inappropriate behaviour’ against the boss.

The team principal kept up his typical duties during the investigation, appearing at the RB20 launch event and also in the garage during pre-season testing.

After the investigation was concluded on Wednesday, Horner was cleared of any wrongdoing and the grievance was dismissed, pending an appeal from the employee in question. This was not, however, where the saga ended.

On Thursday, a Google Drive folder was sent to journalists and leading F1 figures. In response, Horner released a statement, which read: “I won’t comment on anonymous speculation, but to reiterate, I have always denied the allegations.

“I respected the integrity of the independent investigation and fully cooperated with it every step of the way. It was a thorough and fair investigation conducted by an independent specialist barrister and it has concluded, dismissing the complaint made.”
