Children trapped at seaside town’s indoor play park as ‘slide suddenly deflates’

A group of children were left trapped in a seaside town’s indoor play park after the slide suddenly deflated.

Emergency services were called to Adventure Land in the Bright Spot Arcade in New Brighton on the Wirral, in northwest England.

According to the Liverpool Echo, emergency services were spotted outside the entrance to the arcade.

Following the incident, emergency crews reportedly left the scene just under an hour after they were alerted.

In a statement, the Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service said: “Crews were alerted at 12.39pm and on scene at 12.46pm.

“Two fire engines and the search and rescue team attended alongside North West Ambulance Service (NWAS). Crews arrived to find an inflatable slide had deflated. Firefighters entered and confirmed that all persons were accounted for and provided general assistance.

“Crews left the scene at 1.34pm.”

The emergency services confirmed that every person involved in the incident had been accounted for.

It is believed that the slide deflated whilst several children were playing on it in the popular arcade.

While the Bright Spot Arcade remains open, Adventureland has now closed for the day while officials investigate why the incident happened.

Earlier this year, the Echo reported that the venue and local area could soon be transformed.

The property has been in the Wilkie family for five generations and current owner Dave Wilkie last year announced big plans for the site which included a redevelopment.

Earlier this year, residents of New Brighton said they wanted to see new developments to draw people in.

Mr Wilkie, who is developing proposals to revolutionise the seafront, said: “In the summer, we are making money. The rest of the year we break even.

“It will put us on the map and bring value to the area. If I can do it right, it will be fantastic.”
