Child stabbed at school before suspect 'tries to set himself on fire' in Germany


A child has been stabbed at a school in Germany, after a knife-wielding youngster ran into the building and launched an attack, before proceeding to try and set themselves on fire.

The wounded pupil is believed to be in the third grade, making them between seven and eight, and the perpetrator is believed to in the seventh grade, making him ten or 11.

The incident took place at around 9:40am today in the Bischofswerda area of Saxony near Dresden. The victim has been taken to hospital by paramedics.

Following the stabbing, the child attempted to set themselves alight. However local reports suggest that he was unable to do so, having been apprehended by police. It is unknown whether the knife-wielder has been arrested and whether a threat remains.
