Chelsea 'scouting' same wonderkid that Arsenal transfer chief Edu offered £30m for

Diomande’s wages would increase but his buyout clause set at around £69m will stay the same. His agent confirmed in September that he is committed to Sporting but said a contract renewal was not yet set in stone.

Luis Cassiano Neves told A Bola: “[Diomande] is extremely satisfied at Sporting. He is very focused on the club and their objectives for this season, which include winning the league title.

“And he knows that Sporting is the ideal club for this evolution. He will be happy to sit at the table with Sporting but so far there is nothing [to discuss]. Sporting is Diomande’s present and future, he wants to evolve but there is nothing regarding [a contract] renewal.”

Diomande has received high praise from his international boss Jean-Louis Gasset, who claimed the central defender has what it takes to make it to the top. He said: “He’s one of the 25 best under-19 central defenders in the world and he does everything well. He plays in Portugal, he’s going to play in top leagues, he’s going to play in the Champions League or the Europa League.”
