Chelsea points deduction verdict as new FFP 'stance' emerges ahead of January spending

Chelsea are still keen to offload players over the next few weeks though, which would only improve their status in the eyes of FFP further. Sales of academy graduates are viewed entirely as profit, which would open up opportunities for big-money purchases.

Playmaker Conor Gallagher is among those to have been heavily linked with a move away from his boyhood club, with Tottenham monitoring his situation closely in the hope of replacing Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg with the England international. Pochettino is keen to retain the services of the midfielder and would rather the playmaker be offered a new contract extension, though it remains to be seen how the situation pans out.

Ian Maatsen and Trevoh Chalobah are also expected to be offloaded imminently, with both being eyed by German outfits. Armando Broja could also be sold for pure profit if another striker arrives and forces him down the pecking order.
