Chelsea could offload four players in January including star Pochettino 'so happy' with

Chelsea are expected to offload several players this winter as they look to spend big once again in January. Here, Express Sport looks at four players who have been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge in the New Year including a young starlet Mauricio Pochettino has been mightily impressed with this season.

Ian Maatsen

Ian Maatsen may have turned Pochettino’s head since breaking into the first team but that doesn’t mean he will be sticking around. The 21-year-old is nearing the end of his deal in west London and despite efforts being made to extend his stay, little progress has been made.

Maatsen, who has made seven appearances for the Blues so far this season, is attracting interest from right around the footballing globe with Barcelona, Manchester City, Liverpool and Burnley all said to be keen on snapping him up.

Their interest intensifies despite Pochettino insisting that he intends to incorporate the youngster into Chelsea’s first-team set-up. “So far, Ian Maatsen is in my plan. I am so happy with him, can play in different positions,” said Pochettino. “He is a clever player, I am so pleased with him so far.”

Trevoh Chalobah

Trevoh Chalobah has already been transfer listed ahead of the January transfer window. Chelsea have reportedly set a £25million price tag above his head with Bayern Munich among the teams interested in acquiring his services.

The 24-year-old centre-back is also available on loan but he is expected to be out until at least January with a hamstring issue which could prove to be a stumbling block for potential suitors looking to bring him in on a short-term deal.

Malang Sarr

Pochettino didn’t even know who Malang Sarr was when he was quizzed about the forgotten star during a press conference in August and you can’t blame him. The Frenchman has only played eight times for Chelsea in the Premier League and has spent the majority of his three and a half seasons at the club out on loan. He will surely go in January.

Jamie Cummings

English shot-stopper Jamie Cummings hasn’t got anywhere near a first-team appearance for his boyhood club during his 15 years with the Blues. Now, 24 years old it is expected he will be moved on in January after loan spells in League One with Gillingham and Milton Keynes Dons.
