Cheeky driver caught helping herself to neighbour’s charger for her own electric car

A woman has been spotted helping herself to a man’s electric vehicle charger whilst he demands answers via his doorbell camera.

The footage which has been shared on social media channel TikTok features breathtaking levels of cheek as the woman tries to insist she’s actually doing the man a favour.

And the conversation between the pair of them is so outrageous that viewers refuse to believe it’s not a set up.

The video which has been shared from an account called Tara’sChicBits with the title, ‘Woman helps herself to man’s charger to charge her car’, has had more than 1,000 comments.

The man addresses the woman who is charging her car on his drive without permission when she is visiting a friend at a neighbouring property via what looks like a doorbell camera.

He says: “What are you doing?”

She answers: “What am I doing? Are you talking to me? Um, I’m just charging my car.”

The man replies: “Yeah but that’s my charger. And my drive.”

The woman – who is wearing dark sunglasses – then goes on to try and suggest she’s doing him a favour by testing out the facility, preventing it from going rusty and that he’s the one at fault as he wasn’t in to ask.

When he further challenges the woman on her actions she tells him not to get “big headed” about it as it’ll cost him just pennies – and by not allowing it he’s being “very selfish and greedy.”

One commenter says: “Definitely a set up.” Another says: “Know him that’s his wife”.

“Come on who writes these scripts,” says another. But despite the questions surrounding the footage some are still annoyed by it.

One commenter said: “I would say it’s like this I’m paying for the electric to charge your car so now your car is mine.

“I would have said you paying the electricity bill?..And if she didn’t move. I’d ring police,” says another.

More TikTokers chip in, one saying: “That conversation went on way too long.” They added: “She’d have got told to get lost and police were on way.”

A electric vehicle expert has weighed in to say why this is an extremely unlikely scenario.

Writing for Smart Home Charge Danny Morgan writes: “Installing a home charger for your electric car or plug-in hybrid is a brilliant choice.

“Take it from me – home charging is more convenient and faster than a domestic socket, and safer, plus it can help you save money if you switch to the right energy tariff.

“But we often get asked about the security of the charger. Can somebody take the cable? Could a stranger park up and charge their electric car? And other similar questions.

“All valid concerns, but I am here to explain why it’s very unlikely to happen.”

He says that the chargers can be set to only charge at certain times, that you can opt for a charger with a lock and that the length it takes to charge the care makes the chances of it happening minimal.
