Charles should 'tear up' Meghan and Harry's Coronation invite to avoid 'reality TV circus'

King Charles should “tear up” Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s Coronation invitations, according to a royal commentator. The Duke and Duchess have been slammed for attempting to turn the Coronation into a “reality TV circus” after waiting to respond to an invite. Royal commentator and GB News talk show host Dan Wootton scolded the Sussexes who have officially been invited to the event but have not yet said whether they will attend.

It’s been two months since the news broke that Meghan and Harry were invited to the Coronation but the couple have been mum on the issue. A spokesperson for the couple did confirm they had received an invite but refused to say whether they would travel to Britain to witness the once-in-a-generation event next month.

Royal commentator and talk show presenter Dan Wootton has weighed in on the issue, claiming the Sussexes “had their chance” to attend and should now not be allowed to go.

“King Charles should tear their invitation up!” said Mr Wootton. “What they’re trying to do is turn the King’s Coronation – the most important day of Charles III’s life – into a sideshow, into a reality TV circus and I feel like they’ve had their chance now and they want to make it all about them.

“King Charles, via his courtiers, should go back very politely and say ‘Look, you’ve had your time, we’ve given you weeks and you’ve clearly decided not to come the invitation is gone’.”

Princess Anne and her husband Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence will appear on the balcony, it is believed, alongside Charles and his wife Camilla, Queen Consort.

In addition, it is though Prince Edward and his wife Sophie, who spent much of their time with the late Queen before she died, will make an appearance.

The future King and Queen, Prince William and Princess Kate, will join them on the balcony along with their children Prince George, 9, Princess Charlotte, 7, and Prince Louis, 4.

A source with knowledge of the plans told The Mirror: “The King has been very clear who he wants to represent the monarchy.

“There is little room for sentiment, this is a State occasion, not a family occasion and it is right that only the working members of the family are there at the big public moment.”
