Carnage continues as nine killed in Israeli air strikes on Gaza

The Red Crescent charity said 13 Palestinians were also wounded when Deir al-Balah in the centre of the Strip was bombed.

Meanwhile, a home in the southern city of Khan Yunis, occupied by the Abu Aram family, was targeted. The number of casualties was unclear.

The Gaza government has accused Israel of deliberately targeting Palestinian journalists, claiming 117 had died.

It alleged the IDF had singled them out since the beginning of the war “to prevent the reporting of the crimes it commits in Gaza”.

Israel has vowed to continue its bombing campaign until Hamas, Gaza’s ruling terror group, is “completely destroyed”.

But it is coming under mounting international pressure amid the growing number of casualties.

More than 23,700 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza since the war began, according to the Hamas-run health ministry.

It said more than 60,000 have been injured, and thousands more are missing and presumed dead. Israel says at least 186 of its soldiers have been killed during the ground invasion.

It followed Hamas’ attack on Israel on October 7 in which 1,200 Israelis died.
