Carlos Tevez rushed to hospital in Argentina as statement released on ex-Man Utd star

Carlos Tevez, the former Manchester United and Manchester City striker, has been admitted to hospital in Argentina after experiencing chest pain. Tevez, who also played for West Ham in the Premier League, is currently managing top-flight club Independiente after hanging up his boots in 2022.

Tevez spent the night at a hospital in San Isidro, a neighbourhood in Buenos Aires, and is due to undergo further testing on Wednesday. Independiente confirmed that Tevez had been hospitalised via an official statement, in which they said the initial results had been ‘satisfactory’.

“Our coach, Carlos Tevez, went to the La Trinidad Hospital in San Isidro with chest pain,” the statement read. “They carried out the corresponding tests and they were satisfactory. Today he will continue with a series of tests scheduled in advance as part of a general check-up.”

In a subsequent message, the club added: “Carlos Tevez will be hospitalised as a precaution until the corresponding tests are completed.”

Tevez, who is one of only 14 footballers to have played for both Manchester clubs, is yet to make any official comment on the matter. He is said to suffer from high blood pressure and regularly undergoes medical checks to keep track of his health.

Last year, it was reported that Tevez was injured in a fall which took place in the bathroom of his house. According to Ole, the 40-year-old experienced a bout of ‘dizziness’ before fainting and hitting his head, causing a wound that needed to be stitched up in hospital.

Tevez began his playing career at Boca Juniors before moving to England with West Ham in 2006. He was loaned to Manchester United the following season and spent two years at Old Trafford, scoring 34 times in 99 games for the Red Devils.

The forward went on to join Manchester City in 2009, averaging a goal every two games during his four-year spell at the club. Tevez left England in 2013 to sign for Juventus before returning to Boca Juniors after two years in Italy. A brief stint in China followed before he went back to Boca Juniors again, where he would retire.

Tevez made his first step into management with Rosario Central and joined Independiente as their head coach last year.
