Carabao Cup final chaos as 'thousands' of Liverpool fans unable to get into Wembley

Digital ticket problems affecting Liverpool fans have left ‘thousands’ stranded outside Wembley ahead of the Carabao Cup final. The Reds’ hotly-anticipated showdown with Chelsea kicks off at 3pm today (Sunday) and supporters could be in danger of missing the start of the match.

Hoards of fans from Chelsea and Liverpool have already marched down Wembley way ahead of a mouth-watering scrap for the season’s first piece of major domestic silverware.

But not everyone has been able to advance through the turnstiles and into their seats. According to BBC Sport journalist Nick Parrott, ‘hundreds if not thousands’ of supporters are experiencing issues and being sent to the Wembley ticket office.

Liverpool distributed digital tickets for the final and those with wide bar codes, as opposed to QR codes, are believed to have encountered problems.

The Wembley ticket office are reportedly printing paper tickets en masse in an effort to get Reds fans into the ground before kick-off. Each team is taking just over 30,000 supporters to the stadium, with more than 85,000 expected to attend the game in total.

Liverpool’s quest for trophies this season carries an added edge as Jurgen Klopp comes to the end of his managerial reign. Sunday will therefore be his last chance to win the Carabao Cup for a second time, having first done so in 2022.
