Car ploughs into primary school 'with several people hurt' at the scene


Several people have been left injured after a car crashed into a primary school in Wimbledon this morning. 

The vehicle collided with one of the south west London school buildings.

Police were called just before 10am.

The incident happened at a primary school on Camp Road, Wimbledon, believed to be The Study Preparatory School but this has not been confirmed.

Several people are being treated at the scene, said Metropolitan Police. It is not known if children specifically have been injured or how many people are injured.

Merton Police wrote on Twitter: “Officers are responding to an incident at a primary school in Camp Road, Wimbledon.

“We were called at 09:54hrs to reports that a car collided with a building at the school.

“Several people are being treated at the scene. We will share further updates when we can.”

London Fire Brigade confirmed they had two fire engines and two fire rescue units at the scene in support of police.
