A Russian warship is reported to have fired warning shots at a cargo ship in the southwestern Black Sea.
The vessel was making its way northwards at the time of the incident.
This is the first time Russia has fired on merchant shipping beyond Ukraine since the collapse of the UN-brokered grain deal last month.
