Brothers miles apart: Harry and William record separate messages for Diana Awards

Praising the young people, William highlighted their “compassion and relentless dedication”, while Harry spoke on something a little different.

Harry focused on the importance of joining forces with other campaigners because “no one is a conduit for change alone”.

Awards campaigners recently revealed that Harry had made a surprise appearance at an event in LA last month.

During the surprise appearance, Harry presented four of the winners with their certificates.

The Diana Awards, which is supported hugely by both brothers, was set up to carry on their late mother’s belief that young people hold the power to change the world.

The 2023 Awards comes just one day before, what would have been, Diana’s 62nd birthday on July 1.

In a stark contrast to this year’s Awards, Harry hinted at his and William’s relationship in 2021.

At the time, Harry said: “William and I are recognising mum’s 60th birthday.”

The now-38-year-old spoke of his mother, stating that she would be “proud of you all for living an authentic life” and one with “compassion for others”.

He added: “Our mum believed that young people have the power to change the world. She believed in your strength because she saw it day in and day out and in the faces of young people exactly like you, she witnessed a boundless enthusiasm and passion.

“And to see those same values shine through as it has done for 21 years now, The Diana Award carries her legacy forward by putting young people at the centre of our future. And this has never been more important.”
