Brother of one of UK’s most notorious killers banned from his own estate

The brother of cowardly killer Connor Chapman has been banned from entering his home estate and from riding motorbikes in Merseyside.

Lewis Chapman, 22, received a court order with restrictions aimed at reducing gang-related crime and violence in the Wirral.

He is the younger brother of Connor Chapman who killed a beautician when he shot in front of the Lighthouse Pub in Wallasey last Christmas Eve.

Chapman was aiming at rival gang members Kieran Salkeld and Jake Duffy when innocent Elle Edwards, a 26-year-old beautician, was caught in the fire and shot twice in the head. Three other innocent bystanders were injured.

It was the culmination of a long-running feud between Chapman’s gang on the Woodchurch estate and a rival gang on the Beechwood estate, on the other side of the motorway.

Connor Chapman was sentenced for Elle’s murder, the attempted murder of Salkeld and Duffy, and injuring two others to 48 years in prison.

Lewis Chapman, who was shot in Moreton in August 2022, was made subject to the court injunction yesterday (September 20) following an application from Merseyside Police. It will remain in force until March 2025.

The order prevents him from: Associating with named individuals, entering the gang’s estates, using or threatening violence/abusive conduct, possession of equipment to make or sell/possession of Class A and B drugs, having more than one phone, or riding an e-bike/e-scooter/motorbike.

Any breach would lead to his arrest and appearance at court.

Merseyside Police says the gang injunctions are part of an operation to proactively target gang-related activity in Birkenhead and surrounding areas.

Chief Inspector Duncan Swan, one of the senior officers involved in EVOLVE Wirral, said: “Our officers are dedicated to disrupting the lives of those who are prepared to engage in criminality and by doing so make a positive difference to the communities where these individuals have been causing harm and distress.”
