British boy who has been missing for 6 years found alive in France

A British boy who vanished after an apparent “abduction” in Spain six years ago has been found in France, prosecuters revealed today.

Alex Batty was just 11 when he went missing during a holiday in Marbella, Spain, with his family in October 2017.

The boy, who is from Oldham, Greater Manchester, had been travelling with his mother Melanie Batty, who was 37 at the time, and his grandfather David Batty, then 58. The pair were prohibited form being with Alex at the time because of domestic difficulties.

La Depeche, the newspaper that covers the area, reported on Thursday: “The Alex Batty mystery is about to be solved.

“Although he did not show any official document to the gendarmes who took him in, this young 17-year-old boy provided his identity on his own. His face and his story correspond in every way to that of the Briton kidnapped in 2017. ‘This Thursday the Toulouse public prosecutor confirmed that it is indeed Alex Batty.”
