Brit tourist tried to open Ryanair plane door before being restrained on flight


A British tourist was restrained by fellow Ryanair passengers as he tried to open a plane door, on a flight from Croatia to London.

In footage shared online, two men can be seen tussling with the agitated passenger, shortly before take-off.  Another video showed the man being hauled back to the airport terminal at Zadar by Croatian police.   

The 27-year-old tourist has not yet been named, but he is a professional boxer, according to Croatian media.   

Video shows him trying to push his way through the plane aisle, shouting: “Open the door, open the door!!”

BNN reports that the “harrowing incident” triggered “panic and chaos among passengers”.  Local media reported that a British tourist was arrested.

Croatian police say a British tourist resisted arrest as he was taken to hospital. The man is currently in custody on suspicion of assaulting an official and the investigation is ongoing, said police.

Many passengers on the Ryanair flight had reportedly been at the acclaimed electronic music festival Hideout, held in Zrce on the island of Pag, between 25 and 29 June.
