Brit holidaymakers ‘fed up’ as Disneyland Paris closes without warning for staff parties

A grandmother has said she is “fed up” after claiming she booked some dates at Disneyland Paris not aware the park was closing early for staff Christmas parties.

Posting on an independent group sharing advice on the French attraction on Facebook the woman said she had booked the Newport Bay Club accommodation for two days on December 19 and 20.

But she said she was “fed up” and “disappointed” having discovered the parks close at 6.30pm and not 10pm on the dates because of Christmas parties for the staff.

The woman wrote: “Both parks are closing early on those dates for staff parties which means we lose about 7 hours! No warning was given and no apology. Wouldn’t have booked those dates if I had known.”

Adding to her post the grandmother said there were “no firework or drone shows” on the dates.

The Disneyland app does show a fireworks display at 6.15pm on Wednesday December 20, but on Tuesday December 19 one is not listed.

In response to the post another person said staff did deserve a Christmas party, to which the original poster replied: “Totally agree that staff deserve a treat, I work in customer service myself and understand how manic it gets at Christmas time and they should be rewarded.

“But had I been forewarned that the park was going to close at 6.30pm instead of 10.00pm both nights we are there and that my grandchildren are not going to be able to have the full package I would have booked different dates.

“Disneyland would have known that the park would be closing early those days and should have forewarned guests or lowered the price.”

Several other holidaymakers replied to the woman’s post saying they were also booked in for the same dates.

According to the Disneyland Paris app, Disneyland Park is listed as closing at 6.30pm on Tuesday December 19 and Wednesday December 20.

On the Tuesday a fireworks show is not listed, but on the Wednesday a show is listed at 6.15pm.

On Monday December 18 the park is listed as closing at 10pm and the Disney Dreams Nighttime Extravaganza fireworks display is shown as normal at 10pm.
