Brianna Ghey sentencing live as teen killers facing jail for horrific murder to be named

The murderers of teenager Brianna Ghey will be sentenced today. In what has been revealed as a planned and ‘frenzied’ attack, 16-year-old Brianna was stabbed 28 times in Culcheth Linear Park in Warrington on February 11, 2023.

A 16-year-old girl and a 16-year-old boy, were found guilty of the murder of Brianna, a transgender girl, in December having previously denied the charge.

Girl X and boy Y – who were aged 15 at the time – have already been told that they will receive life sentences. Reporting restrictions preventing them from being identified will also be lifted today.

Prosecutor Deanna Heer KC described horrifying notes written by the teenagers where they planned out the attack.

Trial judge Mrs Justice Yip will be required to set the minimum terms they must serve behind bars before they become eligible for release on licence.
