Brazen moment shirtless golf cart driver leads police on chase through city streets

This is the moment a shirtless man in a golf cart led police on a chase through Los Angeles.

Los Angeles police responded to reports of a stolen golf cart and assault with a deadly weapon at around 9pm Sunday night in the 18700 block of Ventura Boulevard, San Fernando Valley.

The driver – who also had a dog in his lap – refused to stop.

Despite the low speed of the golf cart, he was able to maneuver through police cruisers because of its small size.

But he was ultimately cornered in the parking lot of a 7-Eleven in Valley Glen. Officers arrested the driver and took the dog to Los Angeles County Animal Care.

The pursuit ended at an intersection after approximately 10 miles – at around 9.45pm.

The driver had been wanted on allegations of robbery and grand theft auto, authorities confirmed.

Video of the pursuit obtained by KTLA shows the shirtless driver in the golf cart marked with the word ‘security’ on its side weaving through traffic.

The cart can be seen moving into lanes on the wrong side of the road as several police cars trailed him – all while the driver held a dog on his lap.

Witnesses on the street took photos of the man as he passed by.

The suspect eventually ditched the cart and attempted to escape cops on foot while carrying the dog. He was tackled in the parking lot and taken into custody.

The man was heard shouting as he was placed into the back of a patrol vehicle: “Don’t drink, don’t do drugs, be a better person.”

It is unclear where the man stole the golf cart and if alcohol and drugs were involved in the incident.
