Boy arrested after stabbing leaves woman in 'critical condition'


A 15-year-old boy has been arrested after a woman was left with serious injuries following a stabbing incident in Melton Mowbray.

Police were called to attend a disturbance at the northern end of the Leicestershire town, after receiving reports of a youth and a woman in her 20s having a fight outside a house around 6.30pm on Monday (June 5).

The East Midlands Ambulance Service also rushed to the scene and on arrival found that the woman had been badly injured. 

She was taken to hospital for treatment and remains in a critical condition.

The youth was arrested and remains in custody.

Detective Inspector Jim Heggs, from Leicestershire Police, said: “The investigation is very much in its early stages and officers are continuing to speak to residents in the area where the incident occurred.

“However, I would ask anyone who saw what happened or has information that could help to come forward. 

“I would particularly urge anyone with mobile phone, doorbell or dash cam footage to contact police.

“Anything you can provide, no matter how insignificant you think it is, could assist us.”
